RIP, Ayrton Senna

20 years ago today, Ayrton Senna was killed in a crash at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

I’m a motorsport neophyte myself, so I am not well qualified to explain how much Senna meant to Formula One or why he is a hero.  But his driving speaks for itself.

Today Lewis Hamilton, currently storming his way towards a second title, shares what Ayrton Senna meant to him as a driver.  And McLaren released this tribute to Senna’s preternaturally fast qualifying lap at Monaco.

He was a great man and he was taken from us far too early.
